METHOD STATEMENTS

A Method Statement is a document detailing how a particular task or activity will be carried out. It should detail the possible dangers/risks associated with your particular part of the project and the methods of control to be established, to show how the work will be managed safely.

They are widely used in construction as a means of controlling specific health and safety risks that have been identified and can support a risk assessment.

Having a written method statement provides evidence that safe, co-ordinated systems of work have been put in place.

Any method statements, as with risk assessments should be briefed to all relevant staff and a record of that briefing held.
