Ace of Hearts Home Improvement Limited, a home improvement company based in Hertfordshire, has been fined after the unsafe removal of asbestos material from a domestic property.
The company had removed asbestos containing materials (ACM) from a domestic property, which was situated in St Albans.

The Asbestos Insulation Board soffits encompassing the underside of the guttering around the front, gable end and back of the home had been dismantled unreliably and in an unsafe manner.
Because of this, the serious danger of respiratory exposure of asbestos fibres was generated, therefore putting the two workers and the residents of the property, a family of four including two children at risk.
The HSE carried out an investigation in late September 2015, following the incident. It was concluded that the company were not in fact licensed to carry out removals of asbestos.

Ace of Hearts Home Improvements Limited, pleaded guilty to breaching Regulation 8(1) and Regulation 16 of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2012, and The Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, Section 33 (1) (g) in that it failed to comply with an Improvement Notice, and was fined £100,000 and ordered to pay costs of £2,118.50.
